On this morning’s walk, we had a rare gila monster sighting. This is only the third one we’ve seen in 12 years.
This one was pretty big and seemed quite a bit older than the others we’ve seen.
We’re finally getting some rain and have been seeing a lot of turtles as well. It’s been a relatively light snake year though. Well, something had to go right this year.
August is one of my favorites. It begins with my father-in-law’s birthday (also the day after my second grandchild’s birthday) to be followed in a bit by my son’s birthday and finished by my wife’s birthday.
I’ve never given much thought to the Gila Monster lizard. When I was a Texan, the horny toad was a common sight, though.
Glad the rains have come. Our lawn is parched from the 90s of past weeks. MAYBE some rain is ahead this week.
We have quite a lot of horned toads here too. The babies, which are about the size of a quarter, are very cute.
Hope you get some rain soon. We had another shower last night.
